Rob has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, known as GBM. It is the worst type of brain cancer and sadly also the most common. Patients have an average survival of only 14 months from diagnosis. Dr Charlie Teo can only extend life for patients with GBM, but we can’t yet cure them.

In the midst of COVID-19, Rob, a Queenslander, managed to get himself on a flight to Sydney and Dr Charlie Teo embarked on an emergency surgery outside of his usual operating schedule.

The operation to remove the tumour went well and Rob is pictured here with Charlie ？？？？

Rob also donated his tumour to the Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank, which we are still running during COVID-19 under emergency safety procedures. His tumour tissue will be sequenced and studied to help us learn how to better treat this terrible disease.
