윈난성도 발병 사례 보고…감염 확산할 듯

(서울=뉴스1) 최서윤 기자 = 중국 정부가 쓰촨성과 허베이성에서의 돼지열병 발생 사실을 6일 공식 확인했다. 쓰촨성과 허베이성은 중국의 주요 돼지고기 생산 지역이기도 하다.
로이터통신에 따르면 중국 농업농촌부는 이날 성명을 통해 이같이 밝혔다.
이번 돼지열병은 쓰촨성 남서부 아바 지역과 허베이성 중부 상양시에서 발생했다. 쓰촨에서는 127마리를 기르는 농장에서 38마리가 폐사했고, 허베이에서는 165마리의 새끼 돼지 가운데 10마리가 감염돼 이중 5마리가 폐사했다.
세계 최고의 돼지고기 생산국이자 소비국인 중국은 이번 발병으로 비상이 걸렸다. 앞서 2019년에도 아프리카 돼지열병이 대규모 발병해 전국 가축의 절반가량이 전멸한 바 있다.
한편 이주 초 윈난성에서도 발병 사례가 보고돼 공식 발병 지역은 더욱 늘어날 전망이다.
SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China confirmed outbreaks of African swine fever in its key pork producing provinces of Sichuan and Hubei, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.
The cases were detected in Aba prefecture in the southwestern province of Sichuan, and the city of Xiangyang in the central province of Hubei.
The outbreak killed 38 pigs on a farm of 127 hogs in Sichuan, China’s largest producing province. In Hubei, the disease was detected on a truck of piglets being transported illegally from another province. Of 165 piglets, 10 were infected, and five had died.
China is the world’s top pork producer and consumer. A large outbreak of African swine fever wiped out about half of the country’s herd in 2019, a year after it reached the country.
China also reported an outbreak earlier this week in the southwestern province of Yunnan.

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia plans to cull 3,000 wild and domestic pigs after an outbreak of African swine fever in wild boar and backyard pigs in the state of Sabah on Borneo island in mid-February.
The disease was detected in at least 300 pigs in three districts - Pitas, Kota Marudu and Beluran - after a reported case involving the death of a wild boar last month, according to a World Organisation for Animal Health alert issued on Friday. This was the first discovery of the disease in Malaysia, the alert said.
Twenty-two pigs have already been culled in efforts to curb the outbreak, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Jeffrey Kitingan in a statement on Sunday.
“It is estimated that there are about 2,000 pigs in Pitas and about a thousand wild bearded pigs within a radius of 50 km (31 miles). All these animals will have to be culled,” said Kitingan, who is also the agriculture and fisheries minister.
African swine fever, which is deadly to pigs but harmless to humans, poses a threat to food stocks.
China, the world’s biggest pork producer, reported new variants of African swine fever last week, natural mutations in the virus that ravaged China’s pig herd during 2018 and 2019 and which continues to kill hogs.
쿠알라룸푸르 (로이터) - 말레이시아는 2월 중순 보르네오 섬의 사바 주에서 멧돼지와 뒤뜰 돼지에서 아프리카 돼지 열병이 발생한 후 야생 돼지 및 가축 돼지 3,000마리를 도살할 계획이다.
세계동물보건기구(WHO)가 지난 달 발표한 멧돼지 사망 신고 이후 피타스, 코타 마루두, 벨루란 등 3개 지역에서 최소 300마리의 돼지에서 구제역이 검출됐다고 밝혔다. 이번 발견은 말레이시아에서 처음 발견된 것이라고 이 경보는 전했다.
제프리 키팅안 사바 사무차장은 23일 성명을 통해 돼지 22마리가 이미 도살됐다고 밝혔다.
피타스에는 약 2,000마리의 돼지가 있고 반경 50km 이내에 약 1,000마리의 야생 수염 돼지가 있는 것으로 추정됩니다. 이 모든 동물들은 도살되어야 할 것입니다," 라고 농림수산부 장관인 키팅안이 말했습니다.
돼지에게는 치명적이지만 사람에게는 무해한 아프리카돼지열병이 먹이사슬에 위협이 되고 있다.
세계 최대 돼지고기 생산국인 중국은 지난 주 2018년과 2019년 동안 중국의 돼지 무리를 황폐화시키고 돼지를 계속 죽이는 바이러스의 자연적인 변이인 아프리카 돼지열병의 새로운 변형을 보고했다.
